Structural integration sessions tailored to your body and your goals

What is Rolfing Structural Integration?

Rolfing Structural Integration is a sophisticated, evidence-informed approach to bodywork developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf in the mid-20th century. At its core, Rolfing works with the myofascial system — the web of connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds, supports, and connects every muscle, bone, nerve, and organ in your body.

Unlike massage, which primarily addresses muscular tension, Rolfing works to reorganize the fascial system at a deeper level. Over time — through repetitive movement patterns, injury, emotional stress, or simply gravity — the fascia can thicken, shorten, and adhere in ways that pull the body out of its optimal alignment. This shows up as chronic pain, restricted movement, poor posture, and a general sense of effort in everyday activities.

Rolfing systematically addresses these patterns, session by session, restoring length, ease, and support throughout the whole structure. Clients often describe a feeling of being "put back together" — as though the pieces of their body are finally working in concert rather than against each other. The results are frequently lasting and cumulative, with changes that continue to deepen in the weeks following each session.

Rolfing is appropriate for a wide range of people: those living with chronic pain, athletes seeking performance and recovery support, people with desk-bound lifestyles, individuals recovering from injury, and anyone curious about what it feels like to inhabit their body with more ease and freedom.

Not sure if Rolfing is right for you? Let's talk. Amy will answer your questions, learn about your situation, and help you figure out the best path forward — whether that's with her or not.

What to Expect in a Session

Every session begins with a brief conversation about how you have been feeling since the last session (or, for a first visit, about your history, goals, and any areas of concern). Amy will observe how you stand, walk, and move — this postural assessment guides the work.

  1. Intake & observation — Amy will ask about your body, history, and what you hope to get from the work. She observes your posture and movement patterns.
  2. Table work — You'll lie or sit on a padded table while Amy works with slow, intentional pressure into the fascial tissue. Sessions include both hands-on contact and guided movement.
  3. Movement integration — Between or during hands-on work, Amy may ask you to breathe, walk, or perform simple movements to help your nervous system integrate the changes.
  4. Closing check-in — You'll stand and walk again so Amy (and you) can observe what has shifted. She'll share any observations and guidance for the days ahead.

What to Wear

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will undress to your underwear (and bra if applicable) so Amy can observe your body's structure and movement. Comfortable undergarments you can move freely in are ideal.

Insurance & Payment

Rolfing is not typically covered directly by insurance. However, Amy can provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. HSA and FSA accounts may also be used to cover sessions.
