What to Expect at Your First Session

Your first Rolfing session is as much about listening as it is about doing. Amy takes time to understand your body's history and what you are hoping to achieve before any hands-on work begins.

  1. Intake conversation — Amy will ask about your health history, movement patterns, areas of tension, and your goals. There are no wrong answers.
  2. Postural assessment — You'll stand and walk so Amy can observe your structure and how gravity is interacting with your body before the session begins.
  3. Hands-on session — Amy works with slow, intentional contact into the fascial tissue. The pressure is firm and purposeful — most clients find it deeply satisfying. You may be asked to breathe or make small movements during the work.
  4. Integration — At the close of the session you'll stand and move again to notice what has changed. Amy will share observations and suggestions for the days ahead.

What to Wear

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will undress to your underwear (and bra if applicable) so Amy can observe your body's structure and movement. Comfortable undergarments you can move freely in are ideal.
